Perspective from Patrice “Camp W Nurse”

Jan 8, 2019

I have had years of experience working as a Registered Nurse. I have worked for private physicians in their offices, in hospitals, and currently as a school nurse. For the past four summers, I have had the pleasure of working at the greatest summer camp, Camp W Day camp in Melville, NY. I started initially, like anyone else – just to earn a little extra cash. I had no idea what a positive impact this job would have on me!

From the second I drive into the parking lot, I feel like I’m home. That I am welcomed. How many boss’s say Good Morning, or give you a high five during the day, or just take the time at some point of the day to come up to you and say “hey you’re doing a great job” or “I’m really glad you’re here”. Through all the jobs I have had I can honestly say I have only had one. That one person is Evan Wofsythe owner of the camp. He truly lives and breathes Camp W. His number one goal is to have campers enjoy their day and to have fun and to be safe. To give their parents peace of mind, that their child is having a great day. Evan is a passionate, positive person, he is honest and empathetic, guiding and supportive. He instills this into the counselors, who come from all over Suffolk and Nassau county. He is there for you whenever you need him. He takes the time to know his counselors and staff, even when camp is not in session, I will receive an e-mail from Evan “just want to see how everyone is doing.” It’s that kind of caring that makes me want to go work during the summer months, to put in the extra time – because I know it is truly appreciated and respected.

I would encourage anyone to join the Camp W team. In fact, I did, my daughter is now the Cooking specialist and loves it. Joining Camp W and getting to know Evan was one of the best decisions I have ever made.
