School is almost out and summer is almost here. Let you child disperse all their high energy at Camp W Day Camp this summer. Our 8-week camp offers programs for children from pre-kindergarten through 9th grade. Kids can enjoy exciting camp activities including athletics, swimming, creative arts, computers courses, and so much more. Camp W fills each day with new and exciting activities that allows your child to make friends and create wonderful summer memories. Our slogan, “Where Friendships Are Made,” tells it all!

Our camp size enables us to give kids personal one on one attention and become a true “camp family.” Everyone knows each other by name and kids can make friends easily. Our maximum capacity is 375 campers, whereas other camps are two to three times that. We are large enough to create constant action and energy, yet small enough to provide true attention and personal connections to every camper.

Founder and owner of Camp W, Evan Wofsy’s enthusiastic and fun-loving personality solidifies his commitment to making the summer the best camp experience for your child. Growing up, Evan spent 14 summers at Brooklake Day Camp as a camper and then as a camp counselor. Evan has a degree in elementary education and has 22 years experience working for Camp Horizons in Livingston, New Jersey as their Sports Director and Assistant Camp Director.

Camp W’s enthusiastic staff is the foundation and backbone of the camp. Our experienced counselors are professional teachers, parents, college students and high school students. We do our due diligence in hiring people with camp experience and who share our goals. Extensive background checks and reference checks are performed on all potential staff members. Camp W has a certified nurse on staff at all times. The nurse handles the everyday occurrences and the dispensing of medication. Our staff is committed to providing an exciting, enjoyable and safe summer experience for every camper. Counselors know every parent and strive to build a relationship with them by making weekly phone calls to discuss each child’s experience at Camp W.

Camp W is located at Birchwood Intermediate School in Melville and has seven acres of playing fields for various sports. Every day, whether rain or shine is an exciting day for campers at Camp W. Should there be stormy weather, we have 12 air conditioned rooms for indoor activities. Our gym is spacious enough for several different sports and activities. Swimming lessons are given at the Dix Hills Park Olympic Swimming Pool located less than 10 minutes away.

Camp W is proud to offer a variety of traditional and unique activities taught by skilled counselors and specialists. There is something for every camper. Kids can choose what they want to do based on their interests. Some activities offered are soccer, puppet making, basketball, softball, homerun derby, cheerleading, gymnastics, magic workshop, lego design, rocketry/plastic models, wiffleball, floor hockey, string art, dance classes, fitness training, dodgeball, ceramics, and so much more.

Our littlest campers, known as “Wallabies,” are four years old entering Pre-K. This group is coed and has a very small counselor to camper ratio to provide extra attention that these youngsters need. The kindergarten and first grade groups also have a very small counselor to camper ratio. This atmosphere fosters social and physical development, builds confidence and helps campers make new friends. Our Middle Camp consists of campers entering second and third grade. Each group averages 12 campers with a head counselor and an assistant counselor in each group. Each group is separated by gender and has counselors of the same gender. Our Upper Camp consists of campers entering fourth grade through eighth grade. Groups average 12 campers with a head counselor and an assistant counselor in each group. Our Apprentice Program is for ninth graders only. Apprentices will learn all the programs and safety systems that are used by the Camp W staff. They will also meet with a camp administrator twice a week to discuss the staff manual and to learn about the staff orientation sessions. There is no fee for the program; however Apprentices must pay $35 for their camp shirts. Completion of the Apprentice Program does not guarantee a job the following summer, but it will certainly help. To apply for the Apprentice Program, simply register for camp and follow the instructions on our website https://campwdaycamp.com/.

Camp W offers bus transportation for all campers. Our busses, which can seat 20 – 30 campers, are equipped with air-conditioning and seat belts. Each bus has a bus counselor to escort kids on and off the bus. Our bus drivers focus on driving safely to camp while the bus counselor interacts with kids and ensures every camper has their seat belt on when riding the bus. At Camp W, we understand the needs of working parents and want to ease their time concerns. Therefore, we are pleased to offer early care beginning at 7:30 a.m. and late care until 6:00 p.m. at no additional cost.
